Draw an insect and win a cool prize!
Do you love insects? Do you enjoy drawing? Then this competition is for you!

We invite all kids and teens under 18 to participate in our Insect Drawing Competition: Pick one of the two following themes and showcase your creativity:
Fantasy insects – Create an imaginative insect that doesn’t exist in nature!
This is for you if you would like to create an insect hero with supernatural powers. Imagine a mosquito with laser beams or an ant zooming through the sky with a jetpack! What about your insect hero? Give it a cool name and tell us about its amazing powers when you submit your drawing. What can your insect do? Don’t forget to mention these details in the description while submitting your drawings!
Realistic insect drawings – Observe like a scientist!
Insects are amazing creatures, and biologists study them by looking closely at their details. Here, your challenge is to observe closely and create a realistic drawing of an insect - just like a real scientist would!
Who can participate?
We welcome young artists from Europe (read the conditions of participation to find out which countries can participate)! The competition is divided into two age groups:

Where to find insects to draw?
- Use photos from the internet to study their shapes and colors.
- Copy from illustrations in books or field guides.
- Even better! Use the 3D insect models on our website to see insects from every angle! These models help you capture all the tiny details, making your drawing even more accurate.
Don’t forget to mention the name of the insect model you drew in the description while submitting. We can’t wait to see your inspiring work!
How to enter:
- If you are under 13 years old, you need to get permission from your parents / legal guardians to enter the competition.
- Decide on what insect or insect hero you want to draw. Get inspiration from the 3D insect models on our website or from the internet. Start drawing and take a photo of your drawing. A tip: If your observed animal has more than six legs, then is not an insect (spiders, mites, millipedes, centipedes etc.)!
- Fill out the form and upload your photo(s). An adult can help you with this.Â
- Add a short story or description about your drawing – If it is a real insect, don’t forget to tell us what you drew! If a fantasy insect, what’s the superpower of it?Â
- The submission deadline is 31.03.2025, hurry up!

Who picks the winners?
Heather Andrews, a talented entomologist and artist, portrayed on our website, will choose the best drawings. But it’s not just about the drawing – it’s also about your story you write in the description!
