Dr. Silke Bauer is an ecologist at the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL. She is fascinated by animal migrations and the variety of implications these have for biodiversity, ecosystem services and disservices. Currently, she leads the HiRAD-project (link to https://hirad.science), whose ambition it is to establish radars as standard monitoring system for aerial biodiversity, and part of Kappa-Flu (link to https://kappa-flu.fli.de/de/home), which explores the role of migratory birds in the spread and dynamics of avian influenza.
